But Lilly. Oh, that Lilly Pulitzer! The furor! The (hilarious) outrage! Lilly Pulitzer, the late design queen of Palm Beach ladies who lunch, found her way into arms and shopping carts of women everywhere Sunday morning. Or at least, she was supposed to. The eagerly anticipated collection appeared online, had the Target site going kablooey by 3am and was entirely gone by 10am. 

This was the scene in good old Richmond, VA:

If I had to hazard a guess, that’s the location on Staples Mill. (I recognize the parking lot. Don’t judge me.)  Richmond is exactly the type of city I would expect would go mad for Lilly and leave me with a fairly robust selection of Altuzarra, (Holla if you hear me clearance section!) but I didn’t expect my Lilly loving ladies to go QUITE this hard.

I can’t front. I DO NOT GET IT. I’m not a great Lilly Pulitzer fan myself but I don’t appreciate being robbed of my ability to get this (y’all know I’m a sucker for a jumpsuit!):

So, as I’m plugging away at my editing station, it hit me. I am the busiest that I have been in a very long time. It’s the end of the year so naturally, it’s award ceremony time. And with the award ceremonies come cocktail hours and hotel dinners. It’s also holiday time aka the most travelingest time of the year. I spent a weekend away once this season and am planning at least a couple more before the season is out. But I am woefully WOEFULLY unprepared. Unfortunately for me,  I realized this as I dragged my Kate Spade tote and schlumpy  duffle all through the New York subway system.

Dealing with my out of alignment back and probably dislocated rotator cuff got me to spring into immediate action. I call this shopping trip, Operation Jetset.

I immediately bought the Olivia & Joy backpack in Turquoise. Anything turquoise is a hit with me and along with yellow and orange, functions as one of my power colors. (Don’t ask.) I snatched the Kenneth Cole suitcase, as well– I don’t know why I have been messing around with two-wheeled luggage now; this baby is nice. I am waiting on the Henri Bendel Jetsetter Backpack…you never know, it is the holiday season, after all.
