The Big Chop. One More Time!

HairsFresh

I keep things from you, oh fine readers of The Right Style. I keep lots of things from you. For example, about two weeks ago, I got a hair cut. Quite a dramatic haircut, actually. I cut my hair allllllll the way off. Now, if you've known me for any length of time, you'll know that I'm not afraid of scissors. I first cut all of my hair off when I was 16 years old. This was about 13 (gasp) years ago, before Black women fully mobilized around the cult of natural hair. I remember walking into the salon fully intending to get a touch-up on my relaxer and asking for my … [Read more...]

Do the Damn Dream

Don't you dare give up your dream.

It's Saturday and it could be used as a day for pure maxing and relaxing. That's what I usually do. Kerri is nothing if she is not relaxed. But today, I will work! When the president of your company comes to town, it is mandatory that you pull out all of the … [Read more...]

I was telling you all about the importance of marketing yourself and your business and presenting a unified front across your personal and professional lives-- something that is a ONE HUNDRED PERCENT must when you're a sole proprietor like me. I showed you the delightful cards that I created for my mother and her team and everything... I was in business, but I was in business for everyone else and not myself! Ooops. BeautiControl renewed and totally … [Read more...]

20 Work Outfits for Any Situation- The Cut

20Work

Living in the world of trying to maintain a work/life balance, it is easy to view the work bit as an obligation-- a necessary evil there to finance the "life" part of your life. But think about it-- most of us live a huge chunk of our lives at work and interact with people who are able to easily influence the direction of our lives, so why not put a little extra thought into how we dress from 9-5? I love how the article highlights two different types of working girls (I can say that, right?): the lady who works in the conservative office and the gal who has more … [Read more...]
